I got a text from CC1 at 8.20 this morning:
"This is a Capital One fraud check for card ending ****. A £290.00 purchase was made on 11/10/2012 at 0820, if this was you please reply y, if not reply N"
Of course I replied N straight away, then signed on to check. Sure enough, a £290.00 cash advance was made this morning! Capital One said they've taken action to protect my account and they will call me within 24 hours with an update.
I haven't used this card in 7 months, and it certainly wasn't for a cash advance when I used it. It's been sitting in my purse doing nothing yet this manages to happen. And the icing on the cake it that I didn't even have £290 credit available.

I'm curious, how many kilos of mini meat balls do you get for .99p [$ 1.60 USD] ? Our stores are required to display prices by unit or weight or serving as appropriate as well as cost for package at the till. Does Britain use 'loyalty' cards which give a discount for featured items or cash rebate annually? I appreciate learning how other countries manage consumers.

@ snafu - Thanks. I just checked and it's a 200g pack, so I guess it's not that much of a bargain. There's 20 meatballs, so I will get 4 or 5 meals for SG out of this pack. Tesco have a loyalty card, they send me money off coupons occasionally for items that I buy regularly. Also, quarterly I get a statement with a money off coupon, the amount depends on my spending. I'm not sure what a cash rebate is, is it like a money off coupon/voucher?
