update - three weeks later

July 10th, 2014 at 11:05 am

I'm writing this on my phone so sorry if there are typos.
its been three weeks since J was born. I'd like to say that there has been no unnecessary spending but I can't. We've ordered takeaway twice - both tines it was my idea. We had enough leftover for dinner the next day. Also we've had lunch out at our local cafe twice.
I'm finding it difficult to get simple things done around the flat, so I know I need a routine. Life is just hectic.

Schedules just fly out the window with a newborn. The second child was the hardest for me because I was a juggling the needs of a toddler at the same time. Take away only two times in three weeks...is pretty good if you ask me! You will get to your routine, take your time and don't be too hard on yourself. Smile

I had the same experience with the second-born. It's so much harder when there's also a toddler to care for. Just do what you need to do, don't sweat it.

Agreed with these ladies! I thought it would be easier because I knew what I was doing, but not being able to devote ALL of my motherly attention just to the newborn, or just to the toddler, made it really hard. It might feel like ages before you get back to a good rhythm, but believe me, when it happens (for us it took nearly 2 years to get all the way balanced), it is SO good. I am loving ages 4 and 2, and it just keeps getting better.

Don't beat yourself up...you have to eat and you have a lot of hard work with the newborn and a little one. Just don't go crazy trying to save pennies when you need your sanity.
