Just Thinking and Other Updates

April 30th, 2015 at 06:56 am

Since my last entry, I have been debating about whether to try to pay more to my catalogue each month. I want to start to pay off the cot, but I'd also like to pay a bit extra each month towards my total bill, even if I just round the minimum payment up.

We're hoping to start potty training soon now that SG is in her big bed.

My mum now has over 200 in her savings, 208 actually. I really want to tell her, but then I don't. I'm looking forward to the day that I have over 200 too.

Dh mentioned that he'd like us to go to England this year to see his grandpa, and his friend. I don't think it is in the budget but we will see what happens. I'm pretty sure he wants to put the train tickets on his credit card, if we did go.

Dh is away to see the new Avengers movie after work today. This makes me think that I need to reward myself, however, I did want to wait until I reached a savings goal or something. Dh isn't going as a reward, he's going because he wants to see it.

I am at 61% of my snowflake total, as of the end of April.

I spent 12.99 on a bouquet of flowers for my mum's birthday. It included free delivery and a free box of chocolates.

Tomorrow is payday.

You'll get to 200 before you know it. Paying more towards the catalog would probably be a good idea if you can, as the interest rate is so high.. I was also thinking as you pay down your credit cards and catalog, retrain yourself (and DH) that if there is another item that you really truly need to buy and you can't afford to pay cash, the credit card is what you will use. So you get to a point where you never even considered using a catalog, you have have moved onto credit card and cash for emergency items. Then after a while, cash only.

Ps I also realised here in Australia we don't have catalogs however we have another extremely nasty item called AGC finance. People use it for furniture and in fact it's how we bought our furniture when we moved in- at the wonderful interest rate of 30% compound interest!!! We never paid off anything so fast!!!

Best of luck to you Smile

Thanks VS, I do need to retrain myself and DH too. We have a shop here called Bright House that sells furniture, I bought my mum a washing machine from there when I was 18 and I only paid it off when I started blogging.

Don't worry, I'm not so perfect either. But the way I think is if you end up in a mess with something, while you're fixing it look at a way of avoiding being in that problem again.

Young mothers need awards too, but they don't have to cost money. Could you get together with a girl friend, have someone over for a chat--if you would enjoy that.I used to really enjoy that when my kids were young--especially friends with similar age kids.

Do you know the difference in the interest on your catalogue and the credit cards? If the catalogues are higher those should actually come BEFORE credit cards.
