A NSD

August 6th, 2015 at 04:06 pm

It's been a while since I've had a No Spend Day. But it happened today, so I thought I should document the event. I hope there's more of them in the future.

No spending has meant that I haven't left the house. Although, I did catch up with a friend online so that was good. No spending there.

Have a good day everyone!

NSD, survey rewards

March 23rd, 2015 at 02:46 pm

Today has been a NSD, thankfully. I love those.

I redeemed two 3GBP my survey rewards over the past few days. I also redeemed 5GBP opinion outpost rewards. I'm still working on Swagbucks, 300 + to go now. If I keep at it I can probably request it this week but I'm trying not to spend too much time on it.

I'm just really looking forward to those rewards so I can payoff debt and add to my emergency fund. I am easily pleased these days.

I updated my sidebar the other day. My goal for the year is to obtain 150GBP worth of snowflakes, for the first two months of the year I'm at 49.99, which is 29%. I think it could still go either way though. I had zero snowflakes last year so I'm not complaining.

Minimal Spending: Day 1

October 4th, 2013 at 03:50 pm

I spoke to hubby last night, basically said to him that we need to spend as little as possible for the next six weeks. He wondered why six weeks? Because that's how long it is until the next pay that we will have no sick days and possibly extra hours.

SG's got a cold and there's no tissues in the house. I met my mum for a coffee then went to buy some tissues and some olbas. I also needed to get an engagement card (£1.50 was the cheapest), some more milk (£1.99 for 6 pints, we're going through a lot) and a box of teabags (27p). Well my mum ended up paying for it - she said just put it with my stuff. She also bought our coffee too.

For those of you wondering how we're going through so much milk when I just bought four pints yesterday - we had a cheap dinner last night: porridge.

In other news, while catching up with my mum I persuaded her that she has to pay herself first. So, every two weeks, I'm transferring a little to her savings (I've got a laptop, she hasn't) Well I made sure before I left to make absolutely sure that it was ok for me to do this, she said it is. Well, her savings account is now ten pounds better off. Wish I could say the same for mine.

So day one is a NSD - but only thanks to my mum. I'm back to work in a few days so need to plan what I'll take for breakfast and lunch.

Quick update

June 26th, 2011 at 06:40 am

Just posting a quick update before I have to leave for work.

These past couple of days have been no-spenders. My mum gave me money yesterday for driving her about so I used that to get petrol (£10) Therefore, my envelope balance hasn't changed.

I've decided to definetly add "fun money" to my budget next month. Hubby bought himself a t-shirt yesterday, it's been a while since I've even done that. Even if it's only £10-£20 I will allocate something for personal spending.

Day 2 of Not Spending

June 2nd, 2011 at 06:27 pm

I just checked my bank balance and the £13 for the dentist hasn't came out yet, so there's no spending to report.

£35.78 opening balance
- £2.78 (savings)
= £33.00

Total spent = £0.00*
Total saved = £2.78

Tomorrow is payday so obviously money will be spent then. I usually transfer DH's money to his mum's account too. Next week he will put the money back into my account. We've been doing this for a few months now.

I usually order from the Avon every month or so if I see something I like. I ordered mascara last month. Last night, hubby's mum gave me the book to see if I wanted anything. I took it upstairs and half-heartedly flicked through it. I gave it back to her that night. This will be one month when I'm not ordering.

Hubby's mum isn't going anywhere during her two weeks off (which starts next week) Her trip fell through.

*My car payment came out yesterday. I guess I should count that in my spending category? And my £5 transfer to savings too? I guess I will have to count that in this month's savings.

finally used our wedding present

September 22nd, 2010 at 01:55 pm

Last year one of MIL's friends gave us a £30 voucher to use at the restaurant where he works. We finally used it last night. Total spent: £28 (actual total was £55 before the voucher was used) It's a lovely restaurant that overlooks a lake. We both enjoyed ourselves, it was nice to get away for the night.

Today has been a no-spender. I don't think we'll be going anywhere today.

I'm off to read everyone's blogs now. Hope everyone has a good day!

Weekend update

August 15th, 2010 at 07:13 pm

Spent the day in the house yesterday. Would have been a no spender except I topped up Hubby's phone. £10

Today was spent at work so thankfully it was a no spender. I wish I had more of them.

I almost forgot, yesterday I done the one thing I said I wouldn't do: ordered from my catalogue. My friend is getting married in October. I ordered a dress from the catalogue for the wedding, DH helped me pick it. I think I got a good deal on it. Originally £85 but then I redeemed my rewards so it took it to £67. I still need to find a pair of shoes and a bag to go with it.

Long, long day...

July 6th, 2010 at 06:18 pm

My day started at 5am this morning when I woke up. I take DH to work on a Tuesday so had to wake him up. I dropped DH off at work for 6am. Then I picked up some shopping for my mum (she wasn't feeling well so I offered to get it for her).

After I'd done the shopping I dropped it off at my mum's and had breakfast with her. Then we walked the dog. Then I went to work.

The rest of the day was spent at work - although no money was actually spent I'm pleased to report. Ok so maybe it wasn't that busy but it sure felt it.

Hoping for another NSD tomorrow!

A NSD!

July 5th, 2010 at 06:51 pm

I never spent a penny today. Those are the best days.

Packed 100%. That is one day to add to my lunch challenge. I'm aiming for 16 so 15 more to go...

Got some overtime this week (7 and a half hours)

Nothing much else to report. Going to try and spend as little as possible this week.

internet banking, lunch update

June 26th, 2010 at 04:01 pm

Packed everything today. One more day to go and I've reached my goal. I'd like to challenge myself for July too.

Another NSD today.

Came home from work to find mail from my bank. I can now check my bank details online and transfer money from my current account to my savings. This could be a good and bad thing (easy to put money in, easy to take out...)

DH and I spoke and we're going to have to try and rent somewhere. Private let is expensive though but we may be entitled to some sort of housing benefit since we are in low-paid jobs. It'd be fantastic to have our own space, I wouldn't mind struggling at first, it will be worth it.

Taking it easy

June 25th, 2010 at 07:38 pm

I'm back at work tomorrow so I've been taking it easy today. That being said though, I've done a few things today: took DH to work this morning for his 7am start, went to vets with MIL then picked DH up from work.

I haven't spent a penny today.

Bank appointment

June 17th, 2010 at 01:05 pm

I took DH to work today. He bought me lunch so today is a NSD.

I went to the bank today. I've got an appointment to switch accounts on Saturday. DH needs ID to switch accounts, and to get a loan so the loan will not be happening anytime soon. I'll start looking at properties to rent online today.

I'm meant to be going to visit my friend tomorrow. My other friend got in touch and invited me. We'd be going on Friday night, and I don't want to stay (she lives over an hour and a half away) Hmm... they want to see wedding photos. I'll see what happens. I'll explain I can't stay cos of bank appointment the next morning.

Lunch challenge & Frugal Fast Update

June 13th, 2010 at 10:37 pm

I didn't forget about the Frugal Fast. I didn't spend anything today. I picked up DH's glasses from the opticians today after work. On the way there I spotted bags of chocolate but I resisted. I already know that you shouldn't shop while you're hungry - although I was just going to collect DH's glasses.

For the lunch challenge I packed 100%. Breakfast was the usual - cereal, plus I had a banana and a cup of water. Lunch - ham and cheese sandwich, yoghurt, apple, bottle of water, Snack - packet of mini crackers and a cup of water. I've got three more shifts to work this week.

I noticed some cheap DVD's last week, some of them were only £3. They can wait, I don't need them.

I've started reading the final Twilight novel, Breaking Dawn.

Next month

March 29th, 2010 at 05:57 pm

Next month is going to be busy. It's my friend's birthday and my mum's. Luckily I already have part of my mum's present in. We're going out for a meal for both of these birthdays. I'm going to take the car to both so that should save us some money. My cousin is also due her baby. I already have a card in from us so just need to get a present.

By May I will have paid MIL the money i owe her, thankfully. I hate owing money. That money can then go towards my credit card which needs cleared and savings.

Going to apply for tax credits for me and hubby next month. This should help Hubby pay back his debt and me save. I don't know how much we will get but anything will help.

Today has been a No Spend Day Smile

Quiet day

January 28th, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Today should be a No Spend Day Smile I'm hoping to have money left over before I get paid since I have done for the past few months. My hairdresser hasn't gotten in touch with me to arrange an appointment so I might not have to pay for that.

More money to add

September 27th, 2006 at 09:06 pm

I walked my dog twice today so I have £2 to add to my challenge.

Previous total: £84.90
Added £2.00
New total: £86.90

Also, for the past two days I haven't spent anything Smile

Packing

September 3rd, 2006 at 02:11 pm

I've got my shift covered at work today so today will be spent packing and making lists.

Today is also the first No Spend Day of this month.

I walked my dog so I have £1 to add to my challenge. I really need to count how much I have.

First no spend day in August

August 22nd, 2006 at 04:00 pm

I think this is my first no spend day this month, which is really bad.

I've been job hunting daily, every day I find vacancies I never noticed before. I might have to work two jobs so i can pay back my graduate endowment.

So how's my challenge? Not going very well.I have £1 to add to it today for walking my dog.

My graduation pictures arrived last week. I'm going to try and put mine on the computer. I'm really bad at it.

No Spend Day

July 25th, 2006 at 02:47 pm

I haven't spent a penny today Smile

Lunch

July 20th, 2006 at 05:36 pm

For the next three days I'm planning on taking my own lunch to work. It's not exciting though: a sandwich (probably ham), a yoghurt, packet of crips, a piece of fruit, bottle of water and a couple of biscuits.

Today was a no spend day, but only because I had a nose bleed before I was due to go out for my driving lesson (unfortunately I'm still taking them). My instructor wasn't happy about the last minute cancellation; I'll have to give him two week's worth of money next week.

No spend day

July 19th, 2006 at 05:16 pm

Big Grin

I really should have put my name down for some overtime, but the weather has been really nice here. I'm not used to seeing the sun.

Next week, I will definetly do more overtime. Definetly.

No Spend Day

July 6th, 2006 at 07:21 pm

A lazy day here, I didn't do anything. I also didn't spend anything Smile

No Spend Day!

June 27th, 2006 at 04:09 pm

It's not like I can afford to spend money anyway.

I wish I had saved more for graduation. I didn't think I would be graduating so I thought I would worry about it when I got my results.

Me and my OH are hanging out with one of my friends from school today. He's coming to my OH's house so there will be no spending. He broke up with his girlfriend of 5 years and she went to Cyprus so I think he's feeling lonely now.

No Spend Day

June 16th, 2006 at 02:54 pm

I really like having these days.

I just phoned the hairdressers and booked an appointment to get my hair put up for my graduation ball.

I still have to buy shoes to go with my dress.

Less than a month to go Big Grin

Done some studying, still got more to do.

Signed up for a Boots Advantage card.

First day of revision

May 18th, 2006 at 01:46 pm

I started revising a couple of hours ago.

Found 40p and added that to my challenge.
New total: £3.50

I haven't spent anything today.
