Nine Months into 2016...

September 3rd, 2016 at 11:38 pm

And I basically have nothing to show for it.

I wanted a new job - I'm still in the same place. I have been looking but it's taking ages.

I still have debt - and it's not getting paid off an at an alarming rate. It's just the same.

I'm just all talk and no action.

You've been taking action in the best way you could and you are paying down the loan so don't be too hard on yourself. My challenge was doing much better at this point in time last year compared to this year but oh well. In the end payments are being made, some money is being saved and debt is being repaid to the best of my ability so I don't care too much. Kinda depressing we are 3/4 through the year though !!

Don't give up. That's how I feel about my diet much of the time. Results can be slow to come, but giving up is the worst thing to do!

Don't get so discouraged. It's better to wait and get a job you really want instead of settling. And, unless you went on a huge spending spree, I'm sure you didn't get your debt all at once so unless you inherit a bunch of money, it takes time to pay it off. Any progress is good progress!

Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race.

Why don't you split each of your goals into milestones so you can see progress? Hitting little milestones keeps me motivated when the goal is big.

So for the new job progress, what actions can you identify to make that happen? Give yourself credit for each one that you do. For the debt, identify bits of funds that you can throw at it and give yourself credit for each $10 or $100 or $1000 threshold that you hit. Celebrate in a way that doesn't cost money (because that would take away from your goal).

Thanks guys! I like the idea of rewarding myself at certain milestones, it's certainly something to think about.
