Almost Payday

October 12th, 2017 at 05:53 am

I can't remember when I last updated...

Ive been really lax at tracking spending this pay, so that'll change as of tomorrow when I get paid. I'm still meal planning, so that is helping. I've been making an effort to use things up. In fact, I've almost finished the bag of dried chickpeas that have been in the cupboard for months. Next on the list, is scotch broth and vegetable broth. And pinto beans. I keep forgetting about them.

I haven't started Christmas shopping yet.

Still paying down debt. Nothing changes.

You need to continue tracking your expenses. This will help you in controlling your spending as you will be able to see clearly where your money is going. A short pencil is better than a long memory. Have a great day

Sometimes it seems like things never change! I'm trapped in that cycle, too - or it feels like it at least! I keep waiting for the month when the money moons align and I'm not spending tons. But it hasn't happened yet! Good job eating from the cupboard, tonight I have made: two servings of pasata using a small jar of alfredo and some rosemary and pepper quinoa. Defintiely trying to clear our unused foods, too!

It's snowing intermittently so there will be daily soup or stew. I started a CP of Potato soup before class early this AM. It will help me clear out a lot of small containers of leftovers in the fridge. I'm still eyeing those Hot Pots Laura [Texas] discussed. I've seen one or two for sale on local FB page but I haven't taken action. I created a list of 'One Pot' meals to carry out my plan and help with the abundance of leftovers I that repeatedly clutter the fridge.

    Glad to hear from you.

I think it's a great idea to use what's on hand first. I often find myself with three of the same things

Welcome back! I've been on an eat-through-the-pantry, buy-only-what-we-need food bender for months. Since groceries are a fixed budget line item, this is one way I can squeeze more money out of our budget, by coming in under the allotted amount. Been coming in anywhere from $30 to $100 under budget each week. This will be the first week we go over budget and it's because we're laying in booze and snacks for a party Saturday.
