Job hunting has officially began

August 16th, 2006 at 11:55 pm

I wasn't going to officially start looking for another job until after my holiday. Anyway, that all changed today when I was reading a graduate magazine. One graduate, who has a better degree classification than me, has spent over a year looking for a proper job. She filled in over 100 application forms but has only had 4 interviews!

I've just spent about half an hour registering my details on a graduate website. One thing was clear: I need experience. I uploaded my CV but I had to make some changes first. This website will email me if there are any vacancies which I'm interested in.

In other news I'm still waiting for the volunteer centre to get in touch with me about my placement. I need experience! Retail experience just isn't helping me. I also need a driving licence.

Good luck on the job search! I know what it's like as I've been there for about 7 months now but hopefully it won't take you too long. Good idea to start thinking about it sooner rather than later.

I know what you mean: I graduated in may w/my Masters (2005), and whad been hjob hunting for 3 months by then. Then, in July, I was on unemployment for over 6 months before I got my job. And I got my job by "accident." It was a 3 week temp job and they liked me so much they extended my contract and then hired me on full-time. Basically took me almost a year to get a good job.

Keep going and you'll find something fab! Good luck!
