Meal Planning

December 13th, 2013 at 03:47 pm

I've spent a while today looking through the cupboards deciding what to have. I'm going for a bit of shopping early tomorrow so I'll start my meal plan from then.

- Tacos
- Leftover mince from tacos, need to find inspiration
- Gnocchi pasta grill
- Potato and brocolli bake

To save time and find inspiration for meals, I look at www.cooks.com site, adding the item I wish to use in the Search rectangle. I'm sure there is a UK equivalent as we use different terms for the same product.

Leftover Taco seasoned meat is called 'Revenge' in our house. The ground/mince is added to what ever beans are at hand with either dehydrated or fresh onion. Add a cup of reconstituted dried soup mix or vegetable broth, spices to taste and heat. It's a great way of using up small bits of vegetable leftover or a trifle limp. When plating add some grated cheese. It will melt into the hot beans. Serve with a side of crackers, corn chips, dense bread, rolls or whatever is available.

[crockpot home cooked, dried kidney/red beans and Navy/white beans are least expensive, freeze beautifully in sandwich sized baggies ready for use into any liquid, cook overnight from instruction on the bag]

That sounds nice. I looked at that website before and found it helpful, I just couldn't remember the name of it. Thanks.
Also, I like your binder idea for organising throughout the year. Smile

I found a UK site where they called this Chili Con Carne. I found the details complex but since you've been cooking for more than a year you likely can adjust to meet your needs and ingredients at hand.

    Thank you!
I haven't made Chili Con Carne in ages, I used to make it a lot.

I just read the recipe and I only need mince and a sweet pepper to make this. I have everything else here. Smile
