Being Proactive

October 3rd, 2014 at 09:21 am

I've gathered up some more clothes and toys of SG's that I can sell on Facebook. These are toys that she had two of or a similar one. I'm going to comment on my posts on the selling pages to take them to the top of the page. I'm also considering creating my own selling page since there's a lot of clothes to get through.

I've joined a new site to earn rewards: www.superpoints.com

Last night I found a page on FB: Feed Your Family for £20 a week. I liked the page and was reading it last night. It shows a lot of easy recipes and tips e.g. bulk out meals with veg, buy a whole gammon joint instead of pre-packed sandwich meat, which I already do. Also the creator of the page seems to go to her local supermarket each night to get items which are reduced to silly prices such as 5p. I think I'll have to stick with what I'm doing which is shopping at Aldi and meal planning. I'll check back in with my cooking websites, Resourceful Cook and All Recipes to come up with inspiration.

Oh I got it wrong we're still short, but it's by 27.45 not 40.00.

Glad to hear the shortfall is a little less. Good luck with those FB sales of clothes. Maybe they will help with the shortfall. Smile

It's so fun to get rid of outgrown kid's clothes--nice to free up the space and make a few quid?

Good job SG with the potential clothes sales. Also saw similar article in the daily mail online last wk (in the UK, in fact Edinburgh at the moment 😊Wink.Making jam treats with scraps of leftover pastry worked well with the kids.
Hopefully hubby also understands any discretionary spend of his (including 40p soft drink or anything) is off the table til the ps3 is paid. Best of luck!

Brilliant to de-clutter and sell items SG no longer fits or plays. We love to see you move forward and stick to your goals. I hope DH is on board, willing to work overtime and as a dad and mature adult do everything in his power to pay off his debt to mother for PS4.

I'd be delighted to see you create a written, two week plan for meals you both like that uses items at hand plus a list of what is needed for fridge, freezer and pantry. Grocery shopping with a list and appropriate coupons when available, help to keep you focussed. It avoids impulse purchases the clever marketers set which transfers money from your pocket to the store's . For example it's usually cheaper to buy store brand canned or frozen foods that will be combined to create a casserole or mixture of items. Unlike most consumers, you understand the value of buying a chicken or joint for sandwiches rather than ridiculously expensive, pre packaged, sliced sandwich meat. That junk is full of unpronounceable chemicals making the product almost unhealthy.

I'm always so happy to see you move forward and not have your best intentions sabotaged.

There is a website called budget bytes which has inexpensive meals on it. You might want to check it out.
