Little tidbits

March 20th, 2015 at 06:40 pm

Thanks for all of your advice on my last post. I decided against applying for the new credit card. When I next signed on to my bank the offer was gone, so I took that as a sign. I'm happy enough with my current cards, well as happy as you can be owing money to The Evil Empire (I think LR used this phrase a lot, it's more than appropriate). I seem to be doing ok paying them off, bit by bit, so I'll just keep at it.

I redeemed 3GBP my survey rewards today. That will reach paypal in 8-10 working days.

I go back to work in less than two weeks. Dh and I will be working opposite days. Nothing has been confirmed about my return, I don't know where I'll be working. Hopefully they will get in touch soon. I did hear that the people manager's mum has cancer so she's had a lot of time off. Still, my current/former manager could let me know.

I updated my sidebar today with my new balances. 4878.57 total credit card debt.

That's good to hear that you're not getting another credit card, SG, because I think you're doing really well at the moment with credit card pay down and EF building, and it's probably going to be more helpful to you to solely focus on your two goals. Maybe once you pay down the credit card debt and achieve that goal, create a new goal to earn money from credit card rewards.

Sounds like you made a good decision (even if it was helped along by circumstance.)

You definitely received some great advice. It definitely takes focus to get the debt down & build the Efund. Having too many accounts/cards can easily divert the focus. Great job!

Well, technically Bank of America was The Evil Empire... LOL

Sarah, kudos for sticking to your plan. Having both lunch and dinner at home with birthday cake for SG resulted in a delighted tyke with a doll's house she loves. Getting EF to 3 figures is certainly progress worthy of a big pat-on-the-back. I think it's wonderful of you to create a potential EF for mum even if she doesn't realize it yet.

I wonder if you'd consider redirecting the sums that had been going to clear DH's payback sum to his mom, to a particular goal. Hope you get details for return to work soon. Do you need to organize your closet for back-to-work wardrobe?

Nice to see that c/card debt getting further and further away from £5k!
