Payday Post

July 24th, 2015 at 07:27 am

I forgot to post what I was planning to spend today. My mind was elsewhere. Maybe I'll do it before my next pay.

Anyway, this morning I've paid:

- 200 to Littlewoods (min. 133.xx)
- 15 to BNPL items
- 40 to Christmas savings (10 is my mum's, so need to transfer that back to me)
- 70 to Bank of Scotland (56.xx min.)

I need to wait a few days for Tesco statement to update. I also paid extra to Bank of Scotland because that was my budgeted amount.

I only just transferred my mum's Christmas savings to me that I paid last pay for her. I'm going to use that to put on an Asda Christmas savings card. I really need to get started saving extra because I know it will help us out.

I almost forgot: Dh walked home from work yesterday. He phoned to tell me he couldn't find the bus ticket, and he didn't have cash on him. It was due to run out on 28/7, so at least it's not as bad at it when we had weeks left.s the last time he lost it.

Dh has requested cornbread for dinner. I noticed the note on the family planner when I was in the kitchen earlier. I've only made it once and everyone loved it. There will be less sugar in it this time though. I'm making us a roast dinner tonight, so I think it might be weird to have it with it, but if it gets eaten I shouldn't complain. I need to put the chicken in the slow cooker soon.

That is lucky! At least you won't lose too much money on the lost bus ticket

Guess what happens at least twice a week, sometimes more, where I work ... someone comes in saying they lost their bus pass and wants a replacement ... for free. They're told, "sorry, we aren't responsible for lost or stolen bus passes." Some just walk away at that point, while others will give a sob story about having no money to purchase another one. I also have people call asking if they can get on the bus without the right amount of fare - i.e. they only have $1 and have no one to borrow the other $.75 from.

I feel bad for these stories, but it is difficult to know which ones are true and which ones are stories. So, we have to maintain our policy for all.

Anyway, I was only sharing the above because you're mentioning of your husband losing his bus pass made me think about it. Plus it was nice to see someone taking personal responsibility and not trying to play on the sympathies of the bus company or bus driver for a ride. Smile

I love cornbread. Smile Especially my mom's cornbread. I don't think I've ever personally made it though. Hmm... need to put on my list of things to make! Smile

I wonder if it would help DH to have a specific place for his transit pass. It takes 21 days of conscientious repetition to establish a habit but if he returns his transit pass to the same right handed pocket after each use, it won't go missing. I've noticed lots of people attach a pass to a lanyard clipped to a belt loop, backpack clip or worn around their neck. Whatever DH likes is fine.

@FT: Wow that's crazy! We phoned the bus station the first time, but only to find out if it had been handed in. We knew it was unlikely. I wouldn't even try that on the bus. This time, there was no point, we just bought another one yesterday. (It never gets lost on my watch, by the way)
I only made cornbread for the first time a few weeks ag.

@snafu: that would probably help. When I came home from work earlier, he told me he thought he'd lost 50GBP! He asked if I moved it? No. It was on the bookcase.
